On Saturday, March 19th, I set out to Oshawa ON to shoot my favourite band of 8 years. Even if the day comes where I stop listening to them, I will always consider Marianas Trench to be my favourite band. I started listening to these guys when I was 13 and seeing them always brings back so many memories. Living so far away from home now, they almost make things feel a little more normal. This band was the first concert I went to with friends, the band that got me into music, and the band that introduced me to some of my best friends that I still have today. From roadtrips to terrible "pomegranate" jokes, I have so many weird stories and memories associated with these guys.
And now, they're officially the first arena show I've shot.
Anyways, I'm done being sappy(maybe)..on to the photos.
The first act to perform was 604 Records artist, Kieran Mercer. He warmed the crowd up with some catchy songs and pretty good jokes.
Next was Walk Off The Earth who were a lot of fun. They're great entertainers and really interacted with the crowd. I'm only familiar with a few of their songs but still really enjoyed their performance.
And then of course, Marianas Trench. They've definitely changed since the last time I saw them but it made me happy to see them banter on the stage and poke fun at each other. Even though they may look and sound different, I loved seeing that they're still the same weirdos I loved back in 2008. The guys sure know how to entertain, between Josh flying over the crowd and incorporating the Astoria theme, the show was one to remember. I'm excited to see it again in Toronto.
