The Rest in Space tour made it's way up to Canada, stopping at the Danforth Music Hall for two exciting nights. When I first heard this tour was coming here, I was SO excited. Pierce the Veil was a band I listened to non stop as a teenager and it's been years since I'd seen them. Now I've been to a lot of shows at the Danforth and I have to say, they brought the most gear into the venue that I've ever seen. From their own sound and lighting rigs to the set up on stage, Pierce the Veil brought an arena sized production into the venue and pulled it off amazingly.
First up were some old favourites of mine, Crown the Empire. These guys come to Toronto a lot but it was still nice seeing them again - I actually haven't seen them opening first for a long time. They played a great set in the small amount of time they had and were a lot of fun to watch.
Falling In Reverse were on next. I haven't seen them much before and it was fun to watch a new band. They had a really cool light show and had a lot of energy - I could have gone without being blinded by a spotlight though.
Lastly of course, were Pierce the Veil. I still knew every word as I was thrown back to 2013. One thing I've learned from shooting PTV is that if you think you have your shutter speed set fast enough - you don't. These guys don't stop moving and can they ever jump. My favourite thing about watching PTV live is other that the fact that they sound amazing, is that they really interact with the crowd. They're always pointing and singing towards fans or making faces, holding their hands, etc. They make the fans feel like they're part of the show and I think that's pretty cool of them. Pierce the Veil are all smiles on stage and obviously love what they do.
